On January, 20th UFC champion Sean Strickland will defend his title against the guy ranked #2 in the UFC’s middleweight division Dricus Du Plessis and it will definitely be a challenging matchup stylistically for the UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland. Sean Strickland uses a blocking technique known as the Philly Shell which you have one arm crossed at the body and you use your high shoulder to roll against the headshots. There have been a ton of successful fighters in the boxing world who use this blocking style like Floyd Mayweather, James Toney, etc. However, there hasn’t been a ton of success in the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) world until Sean Strickland came into the scene.

Dricus Du Plessis also has an interesting style as it’s so unique that multiple MMA analysts have been critical of his style but he silenced the haters with wins over: Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson, Darren Till, Brad Tavares, etc.

Sean Strickland had this to say about Dricus Du Plessis: “I’m not telling you I don’t want to fight you. Dricus. I’m not saying you’re not a good fighter. I’m just saying that’s a line that, when crossed, it transcends fighting. If I go to Canada and you bring that up, guess what? I’m going to go to jail, they’re going to deport me, and we spent eight weeks of training for no f*cking reason.”

Now for my prediction for this fight I could see it go either way but I think Sean Strickland could out last him in the cardio battle and because of that I have Sean Strickland winning via 4th round KO.
