OHS Track Indoor Season Recap

OHS Track Indoor Season Recap

Illinois’ indoor track season has officially ended. It was a very good preseason for our track athletes. We had a total of four indoor meets this year. An indoor track is only 200m vs the 400m outdoor track, so times are usually slower since you have to run more laps. There is no official state meet for indoor track, but IHSA does invite some of the best athletes to the Illinois Top Times meet which will be hosted Friday, March 22nd. We are proud to say that two of our athletes qualified for this meet: Wyatt Steen in high jump and Dayne Gibbons in the 200m and the 400m. Emily Hickerson was very close in the high jump and 200m. Since there is no school on March 22nd, you should consider coming and supporting our athletes.

Although there were PR’s (personal records) and SB’s (season bests) at all of our meets, our last meet at Monmouth College has the most progress. At this meet, the following people reached PR’s: Emily Hickerson in the 200m (28.27), Kylee Hanson in the 60m (8.74) and the 200m (29.69), Maya Van Duyne in the 800m (2:59), Sadie Hessler in the 800m (2:55.45), Abi Kayser in the 1600m (6:23), Alli Taets in the triple jump (26’5”), Sadie Appel in the triple jump (29’0.5”), Delaney Taets in long jump (14’11.25″), Landon Gekas in the 60m (7.82), Aiden Fisher in the 60m (7.82) and shot put (42’10.5”), Dayne Gibbons in the 200m (24.06), Cameron Engstrom in the 200m (28.44), long jump (16’8.75”), and triple jump (35’3.5”), Kade Cirks in shot put (31’6.25”), Dillon Thomas in the 3200m (16:31), and Bridger Burham in the 1600m (5:34.9). A few people also gained SB’s: Abby Bindewald in shot put (25’11”), Olivia Thomsen in the 1600m (6:08), and Gus Nedved in high jump (5’7.75”).

Track season is so much fun and everyone on the team enjoys it. Don’t believe me? Click the link to view what your classmates said about this–ohstrack&field. We still have so much of our season left and many people are promising strong performances. Come support our OHS track team at any of our meets, especially our three home meets (April 5th, 12th, and 16th).
