OHS Student Council 2023-2024

Homecoming, Hunger Drive, etc.
OHS+Student+Council+2023-2024

Homecoming week is right around the corner and that means that student council has many important events/things they are getting ready for.

At the first student council meeting of the school year, the council discussed homecoming dress-up days and a little bit about the Student Hunger Drive. They also voted on the 2023-2024 council officers…

President– Sadie Lough (Senior)

Vice President– Maya Van Duyne (Senior)

Secretary– Abi Kayser (Sophomore)

Treasurer– Aubrey Sandburg (Junior)

It was a very close race for some of the positions. Congratulations to all of the winners! As was mentioned earlier, student council plans all of the dress-up days for homecoming week. This year they include…

  • Monday–No School
  • Tuesday–White Lies
  • Wednesday–Rhyme Without Reason
  • Thursday–Class Colors
  • Friday–Red and Black

Some of these days may seem new and strange, so let me explain. For White Lies, wear a plain white t-shirt and write a lie about yourself on it. For Rhyme Without Reason, dress up in costumes with one or more other people. Your costumes have to rhyme, but they can’t have any reason for the rhyme (for example: English Teacher, Justin Bieber, Wide Receiver). For class colors, each grade is assigned a color that they are to wear: Freshmen–Green, Sophomores–Red, Juniors–Blue, Seniors–White. On Friday, show your school spirit by wearing red and black.

The Student Hunger Drive is also approaching so get your cans ready! Orion is happy to say that last year, we won 1st place in our division for the Hunger Drive. We hope to do equally as well, if not better, this year by collecting more pounds of food. Similar to last year, the 5th period classes will compete to see which class can collect the most pounds per student. The winning class wins a lunch of their choice. We appreciate all of the donations we can get. Anyone can donate. You don’t have to be part of the school!

Student council is a very important part of our school and is a great organization to be a part of. For more information on any of this, contact one of our officers, a trusted member, or our teacher sponsor, Mrs. Nightingale.
