Health Problems Found in Boxers

Health Problems Found in Boxers

Believe it or not, Boxers are one of the most common dog breeds that suffer the most with different sorts of health problems. While Boxers may seem energetic, lively, and full of energy, there are actually a lot of problems that come with having them for pets. Today I will be going over a few different symptoms that your Boxer can get and how to treat them properly.

  • Hip Dysplasia: for anyone that doesn’t know what his dysplasia is, it is basically when the development of the ball and socket joint of the hip is forming in an abnormal way. When this doesn’t fit together it can cause the dog to have massive discomfort and could also cause damage. Some symptoms that you may notice in your dog is that they don’t want to play vigorously and they are showing signs of pain and lameness. The best way to check if your dog is developing hip dysplasia is that they should be tested when they are at least 2 years old.
  • Bloat: the most common way that they start to bloat is when they are overeating. Overeating can cause the stomach to be overfilled, which will cause their body to start producing a lot of stomach acid in the attempt to break down the food. In more severe cases this can cause them to have surgery and it can also cause their stomach muscles to twist on themselves, which is going to prevent them having blood flow to their stomach and spleen. The easiest way to make them not have bloat is by not overfeeding them and having them on a healthy diet.
  • Kidney Disease: having chronic kidney disease in boxers is considered to be progressive and fatal disease in boxers. Boxers are considered one of the most common breeds to develop kidney disease and it can be because they can inherit it by their parents.

I hope some of these symptoms help you understand how severe their health problems are and by knowing some of these conditions it would help people that are considering getting a boxer.
