Boy’s Soccer Update

Boys Soccer Update

The United soccer team has suffered many losses throughout this season. With regionals coming up in Galesburg, on October eighteenth, they still remain optimistic about the future. Coach Bernhardt says “This year has seen a lot of accomplishments,…There has been a lot of frustrating points in the season but the players stayed focused and are starting to see their hard work pay off”. This year’s soccer team is a very young team due to losing thirteen seniors from last season. They have also lost five players due to injury which is forcing the players out of their comfort zones and into new positions. The new coaching staff saw the team as a blank slate and wanted to apply a new type of play this year. Coach Berhardt says that rather than direct play he wants to play more of a possession style of play. Their lead scorers are Brady Whitcomb, Kaden Dutton, Jordan Marshall, Nevin O’donnell, and Jackson Landuit. The leader in shots is Kaden Dutton with thirty one shots. When you bring two schools together to create a team there may be a worry about team chemistry but Bernhardt says the chemistry is better than he would have thought.
