After he threw the boy off the ledge, the police arrested him almost immediately. Emmanuel told police that he had planned on killing and adult and then instead picked the boy. Before his attempted murder, Emmanuel had committed several smaller crimes as well. Also, the mall had previously banned Emmanuel for a short period of time due to his issues with women there. It seems that the mall should have recognized and paid close attention to the man as soon as he arrived. As dangerous as he was, the police said the only thing the man carried with him was a bottle of lotion. Emmanuel appeared in court on Tuesday and is being charged with premeditated first-degree murder. The boy is in critical condition and is very slowly starting to recover. There has been a GoFundMe page set up for the boy and his family and it has raised close to a million dollars within the past week. USA Today has more information on what went down last Friday.
