In a small Korean province in 1986, two detectives struggle with the case of multiple young women being found murdered by an unknown culprit.

A good mystery movie can be one of the best experiences you ever get, when you don’t know who the killer is and the whole movie’s purpose is to twist the plot as much as possible. Here are 3 that I think do it best.

3. Memories of Murder (2003)

In a small Korean province in 1986, two detectives struggle with the case of multiple young women being found murdered by an unknown culprit.

Being number 3 on this list, I still believe this to be a perfect movie. It blends comedy in with a real life case of the first Korean serial killer, it has amazing camerawork as seen above, and it has the best ending shot I have ever seen. The only part of this that might turn some people away is that it is a Korean film, meaning it is in Korean.

2. Knives Out (2019)

This is probably the mystery movie with the most twists and turns I have ever seen. It also has a very old, victorian style to it, giving it a really good score and set. It is near impossible to guess the killer and it is filmed so well that it is interesting the entire time. Lastly, it is super funny and has amazing performances, like Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas.

      1. Prisoners (2013)

When Keller Dover’s daughter and her friend go missing, he takes matters into his own hands as the police pursue multiple leads and the pressure mounts. –IMDb

This is a masterpiece filled with suspense and thrilling scenes, and it is one of my favorite movies ever. The cinematography is possibly the best I have ever seen and the plot is so deep and intricate. It is a dark, creepy movie that is also pretty disturbing, but it is very worth it, as it also has one of the best cliffhangers you’ll ever see.
