2021 was a lacking year for horror fanatics, with few attention grabbing, truly scary movies. This upcoming year hopes to set the record straight with chilling new releases, and a multitude of reboots. All from the classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre to the newest Jordan Peele movie, NOPE.

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

First up on the list is the newest continuation of the 1974 film, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Of course, still revolving around Leatherface but with a new group of victims. Some of the cast members are Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, and Nell Hudson. This movie is set to release February 18 2022.

Coming to theaters October 14 2022 and one of the many highly anticipated movies of 2022, Halloween Ends will take place four years after Halloween Kills, and will even address the COVID-19 pandemic. The director David Gordon Green labels it as a “coming of age story.”

6. Salem’s Lot

For all of the Stephen King lovers out there, Salem’s Lot is based off of the novel sharing the same name. Salem’s Lot follows Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) an author who returns to his home of Jerusalem’s Lot looking for inspiration only to find vampire and banding together with a ragtag group to fight off the monster preying on their town.

8. Hellraiser

Another franchise being continued is the Hellraiser series, with this newest addition set four years after Hellraiser: Judgment, the “final” movie in the trilogy. It is set to serve as a reboot of the series and will be closer to the original book The Hellbound Heart. It is being directed by David Bruckner with Jamie Clayton starring as the iconic pinhead. Simply titled Hellraiser, it will be streaming on Hulu coming sometime in 2022, although the exact date has not been set yet.

The rest follows the basic plot of the rest of the movies in this series, in which the infamous “Creeper” preys on the new tourists in the town.
