American Idol has started its 17th season and although The Voice has received better ratings, Idol still has many noteworthy auditions and people to watch.

Kai, a girl who has next to nothing, was sent by her church with the guitar that her church bought for her. After having a shaky start due to nerves, she sang a 2nd song which was “My Girl,” but she added her own twist by changing the words “my girl” to “music”.

Another inspirational audition came from 17-year-old, Shay. Shay recently went blind after doctors found a tumor in her brain. She was being very positive about the whole situation and the judges wished her the best. Her song choice was “Rise Up” by Andra Day and she absolutely killed it. The judges gave her the golden ticket to Hollywood that she deserved, and they all shared a very emotional moment.

Our last noteworthy audition came from a very down-to-earth guy who was a talented singer, and a phenomenal musician on both the guitar and the piano. He sang an original song and blew the judges out of the water. Besides his amazing talent, he interestingly decided to call the judges “homies” several times throughout his audition.
