A Day in the Life of a Dad

Katie Noyd, Journalist

This week’s day in the life of a dad is our one and only, Mr. DeBaillie! Mr.DeBaillie has two kids, one daughter who is 10, Kennedy, and a son who is 7, Drew. Mr. DeBaillie’s favorite thing about being a dad is that his kids love him no matter what he does. They even love him after he embarasses them or kicks them out of practice, which has happened before! Something that has surprised him about fatherhood is the rate at which his kids learn. It amazes him how fast they catch on. Unfortunately, Mr.DeBaillie does not have any amazing dad jokes to share. He did say his classic go-to is always if Kennedy or Drew say, “I am tired,” his automatic response is, “Hi tired, I’m Dad”.  A moral he has always and will always instill in his kids is working hard. He values hard work in and out of practice everyday, which is his defense as to why he has kicked Kennedy out of practice multiple times. Kennedy is in volleyball, tumbling, soccer, basketball, softball, and cheer. Her favorites are volleyball, tumbling, and soccer, in that order. Drew participates in soccer, basketball, cub scouts, and baseball. Drew’s favorite is whatever sport he is playing at that time, but soccer hurts his back, so that is completely out. Mr. DeBaillie’s favorite memory of his kids was on his vacation to Texas when he took them on a wildlife drive in Glen Rose, Texas.
