A Day in the Life of a Dad

Katie Noyd, Writer

The dad for this week’s feature is the one and only, Markell Sierra! Our young, but great, dad goes about his day by coming home from school to find his son Mallen napping. Then, after he wakes up, he changes Mallen, feeds Mallen, and then plays with him through the evening until it is time to go to bed again at 8:00. Markell loves to take Mallen to school and show off his adorable baby boy, especially knowing Mrs. Hutton will take him right out of his arms and love him to death! During the day, while Markell is at school, Mallen’s Aunt Shelley or Great Grandma Nancy takes great care of him. So I asked Markell, “What is the most surprising thing you’ve discovered in fatherhood?” Markell responded by saying that for him it has been way easier than he first anticipated, but he made a point to remind me that he has an amazing child who is not difficult at all. “I got lucky with an amazing child.”  Markell said that Mallen is an amazing sleeper, and he is only 6 months old. He sometimes wakes up once a night. The only advice he would give other men in high school is to always use protection, although he wouldn’t trade Mallen for the world. Always. Use. Protection.
