A giant red 15 foot spoon that was stolen from Dairy Queen in Arizona is found thanks to Pokémon GO. Social media was starting to become curious about where the gigantic spoon could have gone when Michael Foster found it lying on the ground behind a fence that surrounds a Phoenix middle school baseball field, apparently about 2 miles from the Dairy Queen. Michael was playing Pokémon GO outside when he found the spoon and the first thing he did was send a picture to his wife saying “it’s the spoon” which she then responded and told him to call the police. Detectives are still trying to find who took the spoon in the first place and the police are encouraging the public to send any details that they may have. Michael Foster says that when he found the spoon “I set it down. They actually did the lifting after we got it over the fence. They strapped it to the top of a police cruiser.” Over the weekend, Phoenix police released the surveillance footage from when the spoon was stolen and it showed two men and one woman take the spoon from its base and put it on the flatbed of their pickup truck. Although they weren’t able to identify the spoon thieves. The Dairy Queen owners, Raman and Puja Kalra, said last week that they were hoping to get it back because getting another spoon made and delivered as well as getting it installed would cost over $7,000. They were so concerned about their missing spoon that they had shirts printed that said “Where’s My Spoon?” for the staff to wear in hopes the customers would help find the spoon. After Michael Foster had found the 15 foot spoon and Raman Kalra had been notified he said that he was on his way to pick the spoon up from the police. Kalra says, “We are happy to have our spoon back and we are looking forward to the neighborhood creating more smiles and stories with this now world-famous spoon.”
