Role Models

Role+Models

Throughout our lives, we all have people that in some way we look up to and in some way shaped us into who we are today. The dictionary defines role models as “a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated”. I think role models are an interesting concept when you think about what you would’ve done without those kinds of people in your lives. A lot of us are the older sibling or have older siblings. Even if you’re an only child, I’m sure there’s someone you look up to in some way. This week I went around and asked people who their role models are. Even people such as celebrities or athletes can be considered role models. Zoe Larkins said that her grandmother is a major role model in her life.

Izzy Nordstrom states that her role model is her mom or Kim Kardashian. “ Kim shows that can you care about how you look but also can be nice and help people. My mom because she has never let anything get in her way or slow her down”. Mrs. Feldott says her mom as well. “Because she is strong emotionally and independent”. Whether it be a celebrity or someone from your family, everyone has or had someone who you would like to be more like. There is an old story comparing sunflowers to the people who impact us throughout our life. The story says that the sunflower contains seeds that when the wind blows, spread out all around to plant new sunflowers. This is an excellent example of how when we grow up, we can then go out and impact others the way we were impacted.

I feel growing up, as the oldest sibling in my house, I more looked up to cousins. I grew up seeing my dad’s side cousins and my mom’s side when we lived by them for about 3 years. Personally, I like being the oldest and am so grateful for all the older cousins I have in my life <3
