My First Homecoming

Let’s talk about homecoming. I noticed a lot of things, like how it takes boys two seconds to get ready, but it took me all day. I had to get my nails done, hair done, makeup done, and a bunch of other things. My date did homework and cleaned his house until 4:00 and we had pictures at 4:30. We got pictures at the John Deere Headquarters and it was so pretty and the pictures came out beautiful. My date’s sister in-law took the pictures and they came out amazing! I also noticed that putting the boutonniere was extremely difficult to put on my date. I put on his boutonniere and stabbed him once. After his sister in-law took the pictures of me putting it on and then my dad fixed it so it would stay on while we were dancing. All he had to do was put the corsage on my wrist and his job was done. After my group got done with pictures, we headed to our reservations at Oakwood Country Club. The food was amazing! My date and I got hamburgers and they were great!

After an hour of socializing and eating dinner, we finally made our way to the dance. There was really no one there when it first started, but after the homecoming court danced, that’s when everyone danced. We danced to Cupid Shuffle, Cotton Eyed Joe, and Truth Hurts. Everyone was singing and dancing and it gave me such good vibes and I had a blast! We stayed for about three hours and danced the whole time! My favorite song was probably Truth Hurts because everyone was screaming it and just dancing it. The only thing I didn’t like was the DJ played a lot of rap and I didn’t know how to dance to it and I listen to a bunch of different genres of music and I was hoping for a mix of different music but they mostly played a lot of rap when I was there. I had people come up to me and say they had no idea how to dance to some of the rap music the DJ played. After the dance I went to an after party at my date’s house.

My overall opinion on homecoming was it was super fun! I enjoyed spending time with the people in my group, dancing with my date and friends, and the after party.
