Gray Matters Events

Last week on February 8, 2023, the Gray Matters collective had an extraordinary opportunity to gather at Rockridge High School during a basketball game to help represent those struggling with mental health by wearing all gray. Guest speakers Madison McCloud and Brandon Faber were amazing advocates for mental health and both Rockridge and Orion made sure that mental health was seen as a priority.

This thursday, February 15, 2023, is the Gray Matters collective’s five year anniversary and will be celebrated through an event at Augustana College from 6-8pm. The keynote speakers for the night, Jeff and Michelle Moritz, will be speaking on their experience with mental health and how people should be aware of it. The event also will have resources and panelists. It will be a night to connect with your community while sharing an interest in mental health advocacy and importance. The help of Orion and many other schools has led the Gray Matters collective to this point, and we are so proud of how far we have come. We hope to see you at the event!

Finally, as we are nearing the end of school and club season, we hope to incorporate many more fun activities before then. One of the biggest things we would like to add more of is speakers. Having lots of speakers gives more insight on mental health and provides the best advice for those struggling with mental health as well as those who would just like to learn more about it. As a collective, we strive to educate others as much as possible on mental health and why it is so important, and this would definitely help with that.
