Snapchat AI is becoming more popular in the news. As of last Sunday (April 23rd) my AI is available to regular Snapchat users. The opening message for the AI reads as “I’m your new AI chatbot. You can ask me just about anything and I’ll do my best to help. I’m always here for a laugh, and you could give me a name if you like. Is there anything I can do for you today?”

People who are actually testing the feature have been sharing both their jokes and their concerns. Some people use the bot as a “therapist” and some have just been using it as a joke. Other people have mentioned that the AI bot has been accused of lying, gaslighting, and just being creepy in general.

There have been pictures provided in other social media that the bot knows where you are at all times, even if your location is off on snapchat. After the bot tells you your location if you ask it how it knows they deny ever knowing it. Another creator stated that the bot knew her birth month, even though it was never stated in the chat, the AI said it was stated in the chat.

Sometimes the bot will say it doesn’t know your location but then you ask where the nearest restaurant is or something related it knows where the nearest location is. A Snap representative said that My AI had been programmed to adhere to Snapchat’s community guidelines against inappropriate or harmful content.

“My AI understands a Snapchatter’s age, and location if it has been granted by them,” the statement read. “While My AI is far from perfect, our most recent analysis of how it’s performing found that 99.5% of My AI’s responses conform to our community guidelines.”
