Damar Hamlin Update

Buffalo Bills football player Damar Hamlin left in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest versus the Bengals on Monday night. Hamlin was hit really hard in the chest during a play with Tee Higgins. When he stood up after the hit he could not keep his balance and fell backwards onto the field. Shortly after he was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center closest to the Bengals stadium. Hamlin’s uncle is very concerned for him. He stated that the last update they had was he was on a ventilator in the intensive care unit. Hamlin also had to be resuscitated twice, once on the field and shortly after he arrived at the hospital. “I’ve never seen a game get stopped like that. I’ve never seen a collection of grown men cry like that unless it was a funeral,” Hamlin’s uncle told ESPN. All while this was going on Hamlin was still raising money, with his toy drive topping at $6 million as of Tuesday night, as more people started donating because of his injury that happened Monday night. “A lot of people don’t get to see how loved they are while they’re alive, so for him to have a situation where he could have been taken away and he has a chance to come back and see all that love that he got, it’s truly an amazing thing,” Hamlin’s uncle told NFL Network of the outpouring of donations. After the incident, the Bills-Bengals game did not continue and will not be played this week. The game ended with 5:58 minutes left in the first quarter, with implications on playoff seeding.
