A History of Cannibalism

Mason Teemant, Writer

Cannibalism has been around for as long as the human species has existed. It is involved in pop culture and is more common than you may think. Some of the pop culture that has cannibalism is the new Dahmer show on Netflix, Hannibal “the Cannibal” Lecter from Silence of the Lambs, and the game Dungeons and Dragons. Cannibalism has also been seen as an act of desperation in hard times. It is a means for survival. In the early Americas, there was cannibalism. Jamestowne in Virginia was one of the first instances in America that we know about. Archeologists found bones of a woman that had fork and knife marks on the arms and legs. This is not a commonly accepted practice, but still happens today.
