Last week, the Boston Celtics suspended their head coach, Ime Udoka, after a months-long investigation of an affair he was having with a staff member. Ime will be suspended until June 30, 2023, but the organization will have later meetings with him to see what he has to do to get his job back. The Boston Celtics had hired a law firm to investigate after they had gotten an indication that the two might be having an affair. The investigation concluded Wednesday, and showed that the two had been having an affair. When the Celtics owner suspended Ime, the owner was not giving out much detail.

The organization said that they were suspending him because it went against his contract to have an affair with any employee of the organization. The Celtics will not release who he was having an affair with because of privacy reasons. The team did not release many details on the subject mostly because of privacy reasons. The team’s new head coach will be Joe Mazzulla who was the assistant coach. Many fans are worried about him as head coach because of all the arrests he had when he was younger. Mazzulla was arrested for underage drinking and aggravated assault in 2008, when he was attending college at West Virginia University. Then, he was arrested in 2009 for a domestic battery after an incident in a bar. Brad Stevens, the president of basketball operations for the Celtics, said that “I believe strongly, and he’ll tell you, he’s been very open with me about how those moments impacted him in every which way and you can see it in the way he carries himself. You could see that for a long time. We’ve had years to get to know him.”

Now, the Boston Celtics will start training camp with Mazzulla as head coach. The players are very concerned about what this season will bring with a new head coach. It is still unclear when, or if Ime will return, but until then, the Celtics will have to focus learning how to play with a new coach.
