Over time, ever since humans had the basic understanding and curiosity for science, experiments have taken place to determine the power that a single brain has. Throughout the study to discover the abilities of the brain, scientists have been experimenting with animals. One of the common animals they have been experimenting with are bees.

During these experiments, it has been shown that the bees recognize colors inside of a maze for addition and subtraction. In order to determine the correct answer, the bees are placed inside a maze filled with colored paths, based on the path they take determines the answer they give. When given a basic math question, they have gotten from 63-72% correct. Scientists believe this is more accurate than just placing a guess.

This discovery is helping scientists figure out the relationship between brain power and brain size. According to usatoday.com, it is believed that advanced studies on this could later help with artificial intelligence. Now that bees have been added to the list of animals that can do math, further studies will be taking place to determine the power of such tiny brains.
