As fall sports come to a close, the Boys’ Golf team produced a strong finish to the end of their season. Last week, class 1A regional was held at Orion’s home course, Valley View golf course, in Cambridge. This eased the nerves after multiple weeks of practicing the course. The team placed 6th out of 13 teams. Alex Nimrick and Reece Holst placed in the top 10 meaning they were able to advance to sectionals. At regional’s, Reece shot an 81 and placed 5th overall. While Alex Nimerick shot a 88 and placed in top 10. Monday, Reece and Alex competed in sectionals at Hawthorne Ridge in Aledo. Holst expressed that it was “very nerve-wracking to be competing with such great competition.” They both did very well yet unfortunately did not advance to the state meet. Reece shot an 88 while Nimrick shot a 90. Holst said, “I’m heartbroken that my season is over without a trip to state, but I look forward to the opportunity next season may hold.” Charger Golf, both Boys’ and Girls’ teams, had a season of so much improvement and goals of a state appearance next year.
