New Royal Baby

Claire McLoone, Writer

Our beloved British royal family welcomes another newborn. Prince William and Kate had their third child on St. George’s Day earlier this week as huge patriotic celebrations broke out across the UK on hearing the news. However, the nation, or world rather, is kept waiting on a name. There has been many rules/ traditions Kate has had to follow while giving birth of royal babies. First, the queen is always the first to know when the baby is born. The town crier always announces the news to the public, this goes back to medieval times where people could not read or write. Home births have always been preferred, but Princess Diana broke that tradition when giving birth to Harry and William. Kate has followed in her footsteps and giving birth at St. Mary’s Hospital. Dads are banned from the birthing room as it is seen to be a female-only event, yet Prince William was by the side of Kate welcoming baby number three. The new baby is now 5th in line for the throne, behind his older brother and sister.
