News has been circling around the school about a Sadie Hawkins dance. For those who do not know what that is, the Sadie Hawkins Dance is a usually informal dance in which female students invite male students. The dance is named after this woman because the nation, at the time of creation, was taking its first strides out of the Great Depression, a down-home low-cost activity like Sadie Hawkins Day was something that all could participate in, without the need to rent a tux or buy a gown as prom or homecoming would entail. There was also the naughty novelty of girls inviting boys for events.

Anyway, for the first time in three years, we have planned a Sadie’s Dance. The dance will take place on March 3rd at OHS from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. There will be music, snacks, and a fun photo booth with props. You can pre-order tickets at lunch starting Wednesday, February 21st until the Monday, February 26th. The tickets will be $3 pre-ordered or $5 at the door the night of the dance. We highly recommend pre-ordering to estimate how many snacks and speakers we will need. All the money will be going to a charity of choice. There will be a poll on the Scarlet Ink next week to decide what the student wants to donate too. REMEMBER: this is a casual dance. There is no reason to buy a $100 dress or suit. Come as you wish and have a good time. This is another dance that underclassman can attend and enjoy with less stress. ANOTHER REMINDER: You do not need a date to go. It’s ok to come with or without a date. We would love volunteers to help decorate and clean up. If you would like to help, either contact me, Maggie Vestal, or Lauren Johnson. Hope to see you all there!
