 In the first round of regionals, Orion-Sherrard varsity soccer team lost against Peoria Notre Dame by a score of 7-0. Peoria Notre Dame is an exceptional team, seated 1st in the regional. They’re also ranked 15th in the state and 60th in the nation. While Orion-Sherrard was seated 9th in the regional, 322 in the state and 4,812 in the nation. The Irish scored 44 seconds into the game, and up 4-0 at halftime.

“Tough match against the toughest team in our area. Multiple state championships and we knew we’d have to play the best to limit our mistakes and capitalize their mistakes.” said head coach Rick Cline.

The regional play loss ended their season with a record of 9-14-1. Coach Cline hopes for the 2017 season to be a model and valuable learning experience for the underclassmen of Orion-Sherrard program.
