Fall activities

Research shows that Americans love the fall season, especially more than the other seasons. Forty-five percent of 1,600 Americans prefer fall as their favorite season. Since it’s the first week of October, a lot of people are creating bucket lists of things they want to do this fall. So, here’s a list of seventeen fun, fall activities. 

 

  • Go to a pumpkin patch 

There are multiple pumpkin patches around town. For instance, Camp Creek Farm & Orchard, which is located in Lynn Center, IL, Country Corner Farm Market and Pumpkin Patch, in Alpha, IL, Shady Knoll Farm, in East Moline, IL, Frank Pumpkin Patch, in Atkinson, IL, and Black Bart’s Pumpkin Patch, in Warrensburg, IL. 

  • Corn mazes 

Corn mazes are a really fun way to improve problem-solving skills, build cooperation skills, promote outdoor experience, and can engage all of the senses. 

  • Go apple picking 

Tanners Orchard, Speer IL and Stone’s Apple Barn, East Moline, IL.

  • Carve pumpkins

 There’s various pumpkin carving templates that are fun and easy to use as an outline. 

  • Bake pumpkin seeds 

Add your desired seasoning, such as garlic powder or black pepper onto clean pumpkin seeds.

  • Host a bonfire 

Invite friends over for a backyard bonfire. 

  • Collect colorful leaves 

Fun crafts with these leaves are a great way to show your fall spirit. 

  • Go to a farmers market

  • Visit a petting zoo

  • Make s’mores 

Regular s’mores, s’mores with Reese’s, or s’mores with cookie butter.

  • Bake pumpkin baked goods

 Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, apple pie, apple crumble cake, apple bundt cake, etc. 

  • Make candy apples 

Dip your favorite apple into melted caramel. Top it off with some fun toppings of your choice! 

  • Haunted housing 

Torment at Twelve Hundred, Orion, IL, Factory of Fear, Moline, IL, and Terror at Skellington Manor, Rock Island, IL.

  • Buy fall candles

Fall candle scents vary… Pumpkin, apple, cinnamon, bourbon, chai, etc.

  • Go camping 

Colona Scott Family Park, Colona, IL or Camelot Campground Quad Cities, Rock Island, IL. 

  • Make Halloween treats

Decorate Rice Krispy treats as Frankenstein, a skeleton, or even a mummy.

  • Scary movie marathon 

Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, IT, or Child’s Play.
