On Saturday, May 6th, a gunman opened fire at an outlet mall in Allen, TX. After the shooting, 7 people were injured and 9 people were confirmed dead. The victims ranged in age from 5 years old to 61 years old. As for the gunman, he was confirmed dead after the shooting as well. There was a police officer already at the mall when the fire broke out and immediately went towards the gunshots to find the shooter. When he found the gunman, he killed him. The shooter has been identified as 33 year old Mauricio Garcia. He had been temporarily living in the Dallas area and was a former security guard. He got access to weapons through training as a security guard. The police still aren’t clear on what the motive was for the shooting. The Allen, TX shooting is the 199th mass shooting this year, today is only the 127th day of 2023.
