Disney made a huge announcement in November 2022. Disney confirmed the third movie of the Princess Diaries series is in the works, and there is already a script written. The cast is still yet to be determined however most of the original cast want to return, so it’s likely we won’t have to get used to new people playing the parts. This is amazing news because there is only one person who could play Mia Thermopolis, and that’s Anne Hathaway. The only person from the original movies that is still unsure if she will return is Julie Andrews. She is 87 years old, so it is understandable why she might not do it. She said, “I am that much older, and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run.”  Sadly, the original director of the movies, Garry Marshall, passed away in 2016, so it will be a new director.

Princess Diaries 3 won’t be coming out for some time. The cast and plot are being kept quiet, and there is no known release date. These movies are based on the series Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot, so if you want to get an idea of what the third movie is going to be about, you could probably get a good idea after reading the books. The script is written by Aadrita Mukerji, who has written the script for Supergirl, Reacher, and Scorpion. The movie is likely to honor Gary Marshall in some way since he was talking to Disney about Princess Diaries 3 not long before he passed away.
