Video games has had one of the biggest impacts on modern media. Everyone has played a video game whether it was on the first Nintendo or on the most recent consoles or computers. Video games in the past few years have been amazing. 2017 has been the best year for video games in a long time. We got some amazing fan favorite games such as  The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident Evil 7, Super Mario Odyssey, Cuphead, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. That was an amazing year but I think this year could take the crown for the best year of games. This year has some of the most anticipated games of all time coming out. In this article I want to discuss the games coming out and my predictions for the best games.

Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts legacy is a love letter to all Harry Potter fans. It is what harry potter fans has wanted. It takes the world building of the Harry Potter books and really shows off how magnificent it is. This game is also really fun. The story in this game is amazing, it’s really fun and all of the characters are unique. The character customization is really amazing in this game, you get to choose your appearance, your house, and your wand. Every part of this game is just a love letter to the fans of Harry Potter. I think this game is fantastic. If this game wasn’t so boycotted I think it would have a chance at game of the year

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

This is the successor to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and its shaping up to be better than it. The game looks magnificent and I’m excited to play it. I still need to beat the first game but as soon as I do I will be buying and playing this game. I dont know much about The Legend of Zelda franchise but Breath of the wild was a very fun game so I will be playing this.This game will only  be able to played on the Nintendo Switch.  This has more potential to be game of the year than Hogwarts legacy.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the game I am the most excited for this year and the next few years. I loved the first game, it was perfect. The story and the gameplay worked together to form a truly amazing video game and it’s the best version of Spider-Man depicted in media. This has the potential to top the first game and truly blow everyone away with how good it is. The gameplay will be Perfect if you get to swap between playing as Miles and playing as Peter. If they add a co-op feature to this game I will never stop playing it. The acting in the first game was great and I hope to see that in this game. Yuri Lowenthal is my favorite Spider-Man of all time and i cant wait to hear him play this character again. This game will follow Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting against the iconic Spider-Man villain Venom. The boss fights in the first game were excellently made so i can only imagine how fun they will be in this game. This is a ps5 exclusive. This is the game I personally will want to win game of the year.

Resident Evil 4 

Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the of the original 2005 game. I don’t know anything about Resident Evil but I am somewhat excited for this game. The trailer was good and I’ve watched the original game so this really looks like an improvement. This is going to focus more on the horror side of Resident Evil. This game isn’t necessarily going to replace Resident Evil 4 but its going to feel like its own individual game.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

This game is the sequel to Jedi Fallen Order, which is an amazing Star Wars game. Jedi Fallen order nailed the feel of what its like to be a jedi and I hope this game does it just as well, if not better. Cal Kestis is such a good character and his character development throughout the first game is fantastic and I cant wait to see his growth throughout this new game.

Assassins Creed Mirage

Assassins Creed is a beloved franchise made by ubisoft. Mirage is the 13th installment of the franchise. This one will take place in Baghdad in the 9th century. This game sadly will probably be a copy and paste of the assassins creed gameplay in  a new location. Ubisoft really needs to take a different route with the gameplay and give us something new and unique while still capturing the charm of the Assassins Creed franchise.

Street Fighter 6, Dead Island 2, Hollow Knight Silksong, Pikmin 4, Alan Wake 4, Final Fantasy XVI, Sons of the Forest, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Starfield, Kerbal Space Program 2, and Aliens: Dark Decent.
