Get excited because the former Schnucks grocery store and Marshalls department store is going to become an indoor theme park! with tons of rides including Go-Karts, a roller coaster, bowling, arcade, laser tag, mini-golf, restaurants, and more! Jester FEC (Family Entertainment Centers) has signed a lease and will soon be renovating the combined 92,000-square foot space. It will be fashioned after other Jester centers, called Malibu Jack’s which have three other locations being in Kentucky, Indiana, and another just completed in Springfield, Illinois. Tyler Hatton said the construction should take two to three months and should be open fall of 2023. Schnucks closed in August 2020, and the revitalization of Duck Creek Plaza became a gold for the Bettendorf City Council the following year. They are hoping this theme park will bring new jobs for people, new attractions for families, and new life to Duck Creek Plaza. “We are going to bring about 100 jobs to the area.” marketing director for Jester FEC Tyler Hatton said. “Full and part time positions, salary positions. We are going to need managers, team leaders, all sorts of technicians, you know our arcade, go karts, bowling, all the other attractions we have.” Hatton also mentions that it will be for all ages. “We’re like a one stop shop. Fun for toddlers all the way up to grandparents and everything in between.”
