2022 came to an end a little over a week ago. It was filled with many good and bad memories. There were so many crazy things that happened in each month of the year. I am going to be going over important events that happened in the first 6 months of 2022.

January:

• The United States reaches a record number of Coronavirus cases, reaching over one million Covid-19 cases. Over 90% of the cases were from the omicron variant.
• There was a large fire in Bronx, New York. The fire started from a little portable space heater. There were 17 people that lost their lives, and 63 people who were injured.
• The College Football National Championship was played between Georgia and Alabama. Georgia won.

February:

• Tom Brady announces his retirement at the age of 44 years old.
• Adele wins the best artist, best song, and best album of the year at the BRIT awards.
• Super Bowl LVI takes place in California. The LA Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.

March:

• Joe Biden announces the banning of Russian oil imports.
• After a 99-day lockout, the MLB came to an agreement that all teams will play a 162 game season.
• Florida governor signs “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which causes a lot of disagreement.

April:

• U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences bans Will Smith from the Oscars for 10 years after he slapped Chris Rock.
• There was a terrorist attack on the New York subway, which injured 26 people.
• U.S. inflation hits 8.5%, which was the highest it had ever been since 1981.

May:

• Gunman kills 10 people and injures 3 at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York. It is believed to be a racially motivated act.
• 19 kids and 2 teachers killed at a school shooting in Ulvade, Texas.
• “Top Gun Maverick” is released 36 years after the original film “Top Gun”.

June:

• U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, in a 6-3 vote.
• First public hearings of the attack held in Washington, D.C. on January 6th, 2022.
• NBA finals; Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics 103-90.
