Christmas Lights outside on a house and in the garden

Karly Wampler, Writer

There are many fun things to do around Christmas time. One of my all time favorites is going and looking at Christmas lights. There are many places around the area that have nice displays that you can go and see.

The Botanical Center has a beautiful display, and is themed: Winter Nights, Winter Lights. It is open from now till December 11 every Wednesday – Sunday, from 5-9 pm. On December 14 – January 1, it is open daily from 5 – 9 pm. This display is full of over 160,000 lights! Tickets cost $10 for ages 16+, $6 for ages 2-15, and free for ages 2 and under. If you are a member, tickets cost $8 for ages 16+, $4 for ages 2-15, and free for ages 2 and under. You must buy tickets online 30 minutes before going.

Lights at Vander Veer Park also have a nice display, and are free for admission. The display is held in the Vander Veer Conservatory, and is open from now till January 14, and is open from 10 a.m. – 4 pm. It will stay open until 7 pm. on the 10th, and 17th. There will also be outdoor lights that you can see after dark. This display is open from now till January 13th.

The Fejervary Holiday Lights has a nice outdoor display. Each show lasts 15 minutes, and has new ones every 30 minutes. The shows start at 5 p.m. and the last show starts at 9:30 p.m. Tune your radio in your car to 107.5 FM to listen to the music synced with the lights. This display is open from now until January 8th. Warning: This show may be a potential trigger to seizures to anyone with epilepsy.
