Snapchat has been accused of violating the Illinois Biometric information privacy act. (BIPA)

The lawsuit deal claims that Snapchat used lenses and filters to collect the biometric data of Snapchatters. Snapchat users in Illinois who used the app’s filter or lenses between November 17, 2015 to now, may be eligible to receive some of the settlement. Reports have said the payout estimate may be between $58-$17. The final approval for the settlement is in November, 2022. Users of Snapchat are able to submit a claim online.

Snapchat was also accused of allegedly collecting voice prints and scans of facial geometry, which also goes against the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.
