Anonymous vs. Russia
Anonymous is a group of hackers and political activists that began in 2003. They are mainly known for their cyber attacks against governments and corporations. Their group motto is, “We are Anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.” Anonymous has recently declared cyber war on Russia. They took credit for hacking the Russian Ministry of Defense database. It’s believed they also hacked multiple Russian TV channels to play pro-Ukraine content. They then came out with this statement on Twitter,”We, as a collective want only peace in the world. We want a future for all of humanity. So, while people around the globe smash your internet providers to bits, understand that it’s entirely directed at the actions of the Russian government and Putin.” Hackers have been using the #OpRussia to announce their actions against Russian sights. They understand their actions are illegal, but feel they’re justified. Members said they don’t fear repercussions although their defending Ukraine and educating the people of Russia. Members of the group posted that they will continue and have bigger plans.
