World War Three?

Surely we have all heard of drama between Russia and Ukraine, but what started out as rumors and possible threats, has turned into full-reality.

In the past few weeks there have been threats from Russia stating that they will invade Ukraine. The big issue with this, however, is that the US is an ally with Ukraine. Meaning, if Ukraine is invaded and needs assistance fighting their invaders, we will be one of the first to aid them.

Early in the morning on Wednesday (February 23rd) Russia invaded Ukraine from three sides. Cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odessa were bombed and stormed by Russian troops. Over 100,000 people are fleeing their homes in order to stay away from the danger. Many Russians are against this invasion because they are afraid of starting a war, but the people’s worries were ignored on Wednesday when troops landed in Ukraine.

The US has immediately begun to take action against Russia (as expected), as we have already deployed 7,000 troops to Europe and are ready for attack. President Biden has already announced sanctions against Russia, essentially meaning that Russia’s “benefits” from the US are cut off (like a timeout for a toddler). These sanctions are currently being voted on. Biden has stated, “Putin is the aggressor, Putin chose this war.”

It is rumored that Vladimir Putin (President/Dictator of Russia) does not plan on stopping with Ukraine and that he in fact plans on attacking other countries. Putin has said,”Any attempt to interfere will lead to consequences you have never seen in history.” 137 Ukrainian soldiers have already died between night and morning, and it is expected that many more will be killed. Ukraine has already prepared 47,000 soldiers ready for war with 10,000 soldiers on the “back burner” awaiting their call for war. Russia has taken Ukraine’s interests in NATO as a direct threat to Russia. It is also said that the main reason that Russia invaded Ukraine is because of Russian leaders attempting to lead Ukrainians in the “Russian way,” but becoming captured and tortured, although possibly untrue. This attack has already been named the start of World War Three, and thousands of people say that Putin cannot and will not be stopped.
