Disney has been one of the best movie producers for years. Disney has taught us many valuable lessons such as in Mulan, that we can defy gender expectations. These are the top 5 Disney movies of all time. 

Ranked first is Beauty and The Beast. Beauty and The Beast is a classic that has been around for a while. The lesson in Beauty and The Beast is that we should value characteristics within us such as kindness instead of outer characteristics such as appearance. Beauty and The Beast was also the first ever animated picture movie to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. 

Ranked second is The Lion King. The Lion King is based off of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and is another great Disney classic. The lesson in The Lion King is in the words of Timon, Hakuna Matata. Hakuna Matata means to have no worries, not sweat the small stuff, and live life to the fullest. Three of the songs in The Lion King received Academy Award nominations for best original song and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” won in the end. 

Ranked third is The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid was based off of Hans Christian Andersen’s story about a mermaid who turns into a human with the help of the sea witch Ursula. The lesson of The Little Mermaid is to not give up during challenges or you’ll never reach your dreams. The Little Mermaid had two songs that were nominated for Best Original Song and eventually won the Academy Award for “Under The Sea.”

Ranked fourth is Pinocchio. Pinocchio is one of the older movies, having been made in 1940. The lesson in Pinocchio is that if you are brave and truthful you will be saved. Pinocchio is a great classic movie to watch with the family.

And the last movie, ranked fifth is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White was the first animated feature ever made in technicolor. The lesson in Snow White is the danger of vanity. Snow White made $8 million dollars internationally, making it the highest grossing movie in that time.
