Emily Hickerson, Writer

The super bowl has been going on for 55 years and is a huge deal for America. People from all over the united states tune in to watch the super bowl and root for their favorite team. The first ever super bowl was January 15, 1967 in Los Angeles, California. It was the Green Bay Packers vs the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL was created when the NFL and AFL merged together. The AFL was created by a group of businessmen who were frustrated by the NFLs unwillingness to expand. In 1966, eventually the AFL and NFL decided to merge at the end of the season and play in the super bowl.

The team to win the most super bowls in the league are the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams have won 6 super bowl games. Leading to the quarterback with the most super bowl wins, which is Tom Brady.

The name “super bowl” came from the Kansas City player Lamar Hunt when he was talking to the news and said, “the Super Bowl—that’s my term for the championship game between the two leagues”.

The team that has lost the most super bowls since its opening in 1967 is the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos tying at 5 loses each.

When looked up on google the best quarterback ever was said to be Tom Brady. Tom Brady has 7 super bowl rings, participated in the super bowl 10 times, is a 14 time pro bowler, and a 3 time MVP.

The super bowl has been going on for 55 years and isn’t planning on stopping anytime soon.
