The Best Things About Winter (And Some of The Worst)

Kaitlyn Wilburn, Writer

Now for most people winter is a magical time, and not just because of Christmas. For decades, movies have always shown winter as this beautifull and magical season. A lot of people love a lot of things involving winter. This week, I will be sharing my favorite, and not-so-favorite, things about winter.

Some of the things I love about winter are as follows in the list below:

  • Christmas. This is a common winter favorite for many people. This is where we celebrate the birth of Jesus. That is also why Christmas came to be. Even if you aren’t religious, you most likely still celebrate it. One of my favourite things about Christmas is getting together with my family and celebrating. I also really enjoy all the food and desserts as well.
  • The snow. Now you will notice that this is also in the list of things I don’t quite like about winter. I like the snow because it can be pretty and I love how it looks as it snows. It feels a bit magical. I can’t exactly explain it, but it feels that way.
  • The medium cold. This sounds a bit odd, I know, but, I like the cold weather when it is like 50s to 40s outside. I enjoy the cold, but a nice bearable cold.

Now, for some of the things I don’t quite like about winter:

  • The snow. I do like the snow when it is pretty, but not on the roads. Now this is where snow becomes the issue, when it’s gross and brown. Just ew. One of the main reasons why the snow gets gross and brown is cars and mud. Just all of it together sucks.
  • The Ice. The ice on the roads, or anywhere but in a drink or at an ice skating or rink is not it. Especially black ice, that is the worst because you can’t see it but you can slip and fall on it. Ice is just a danger on the roads and ground.
  • The cold cold. I don’t like the freezing cold temperatures. Anything below 40 or that requires me to wear an actual coat I do not like. I feel like coats ruin your outfit, unless you have multiple coats that fit every possible outfit you have, but that just sounds expensive.
