As new testimonies are being shared everyday about the Astroworld concert, Houston is honoring the eight lives lost in the tragic night of November 5th. 50,000 people lined the streets and filled the venues at Houston’s Astroworld Festival. As teens, children, and adults patiently waited to see their favorite artist, Travis Scott, a dream come true… no one could have imagined the nightmare that developed.

As nine o’clock came around, Scott took the stage to begin his show. The crowd surged forward, crushing those around them, concertgoers falling, getting stepped on as they screamed for help. A CNN interview shared a personal testimony from the concert: “The crowd became tighter and tighter, and at that point it was hard to breathe. When Travis came out performing his first song, I witnessed people passing out next to me,” TK Tellez said. Eight people lost their lives and hundreds were injured from the crowd “rage”. There was alleged drugging, suggesting that this was the main cause for the death of the eight victims.

Days after the tragedy, Scott shared an Instagram video, sending his condolences and support to the families who lost loved ones. He tweeted later, “I am absolutely devastated by what took place last night,”

“My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life.”

Travis was scheduled to play another show November 13th. Hallie Stephens at Entertainment Tonight reported that he and his team will refund all tickets for that night due to the devastation from the night of November 5th.

Investigations continue as the city of Houston mourns the loss of lives. The world is shocked by the horrific events and questioning what caused this catastrophe.
