Deere worker killed in Milan

On October 27, 2021,  56 year old union member Richard Rich was hit by a car. Rich was crossing the Rock Island-Milan Parkway to the picket line outside Deere. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe it was unintentional, but it’s still an ongoing investigation. John Deere spokeswoman Hartmann stated the company was “saddened by the tragic accident”. Rich was a 15 year employee of Deere. A memorial was set up outside John Deere Parts Distribution Center in honor of Rich.
