Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

Bianca Schnerre, Writer

October marks the beginning of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and every year the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) sponsors and promotes the month by campaigning and encouraging people to adopt shelter dogs.

Hundreds of Thousands of dogs end up in shelters each year and animal shelters make it a priority to find dogs an owner to provide them with love, companionship, and their forever homes.

QC Paws, a local animal shelter has a $60 sale going on for adopting their adult dogs. The sale is going through almost the whole month of October ending on the 24th. On their social media they have shared that their shelter is full and direct you to come meet the dogs in person and to ask the staff any questions you may have. QC Paws adoption floor is open from 12-5 on weekdays and 12-4 on the weekends. To find QC Paws’ adoptable dogs you can go to their facebook and look at their album titled Adoptable Dogs October 2021 to find pictures of the dogs and descriptions about them. Their Facebook contains more information than the adoptable dog album, so if you are interested in finding more information be sure to check out their Facebook or their website.

If you are unable to adopt, but want to support you can donate, volunteer, and foster to help your local animal shelters. You can also encourage others to adopt by sharing your own dog adoption story if you have one.
