Netflix Review: Miss Americana

Netflix Review: Miss Americana

Kaitlyn Wilburn, Writer

So this week I decided to watch the documentary on Netflix called Miss Americana. This is a documentary about Taylor Swift and her inspiration for writing her 7th album, Lover, along with her career journey and how it all started.

This documentary starts off with her in her house in New York reading her diaries from when she first started her career when she was 15 or so. It also talks about how she wrote her first song when she was about 13 and has been performing since around the age of 7. The documentary shows Taylor on her couch getting a phone call that her album, Reputation, did not get nominated for a Grammy this year. With that information she said that it’s okay and that she just needs to make a better album. Thus, the album Lover was born. This album is a fun upbeat bright switch from her previous album Reputation. This has all sorts of different topic elements including heartbreak, love, contentment with oneself, feminism, and being you. I personally really enjoyed watching the documentary and learning more about her career and the making of her 7th album, Lover. If you enjoy Taylor Swift’s music I recommend you watch the documentary: Miss Americana.
