Starlink Beta Program

Space Exploration company SpaceX is making huge strides in their very ambitious plan to provide High-speed internet from space. For all of you who don’t know, Elon Musk owns SpaceX as well as Tesla. Starlink was announced in 2015 then got FCC authorization in 2018 and the first rocket carrying the first batch of Starlink satellites went into space at the end of 2018. The service reportedly will have very low latency due the Starlink satallites being in very low orbit. SpaceX to have completely finished their mission they will have had to launch over 12,000 of their Starlink Satallites. There are now over a thousand in orbit. According to SpaceX for the Starlink system to be in a reliable operational state they need at least 1,440 in orbit. Right now the Starlink system is in a beta stage and beta testers can expect to have down time in their service as the Starlink team tweaks the system as more satallites come online. Beta testers are also reporting, as promised, surprising fast internet speeds and very low latency when the system is online. The starlink internet is 10 times faster than 4G but still slower than 5G. The cool part about Starlink is that the hardware is extremely easy to set up and all you need is send directly to you through Starlinks partner Amazon. The beta program is full as expected but in Orion the service may come in mid to late 2021. If you are willing to shell out $499 plus $99 per month than Starlink is right for you.
