Super Bowl LV Outlook

Super Bowl LV is set to take place on Sunday February 7, 2021 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Kansas City Chiefs, AFC Champions and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NFC Champions of this year are the two NFL teams facing off in Super Bowl LV. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be the first team to ever play a Super Bowl in their home stadium. The Chiefs led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes have a record of 14 and 2 and the Buccaneers led by quarterback Tom Brady have a record of 11 and 5 this season. 43 year old Tom Brady is no stranger to performing in Super Bowls, as he has played in 9 and won 6 earning him 6 Super Bowl rings. Brady holds the record for most Super Bowl appearances and the record for the most rings than any player in NFL history. 25 year old Patrick Mahomes II has been in the league as starting quarterback for 3 years and has already been to 2 Super Bowls and won 1. If Mahomes wins this Super Bowl he will be the first quarterback to win back-to-back Super Bowls since Brady and the Patriots team back in 2004 and 2005. This season Mahomes led the NFL in passing yards per game. If things go well for the Chiefs, Mahomes has the opportunity to win the passing title and a Super Bowl in the same season, an accomplishment Tom Brady hasn’t done in 9 Super Bowls. This accomplishment has not been achieved in 32 years and if Mahomes accomplishes it he will be the 3rd quarterback in NFL history to do so. The matchup between the two teams is highly anticipated.

The Raymond James Stadium expected official attendance figures are 25,000 fans and 30,00 cutouts. This will be the smallest attendance in Super Bowl history. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced that out of the expected 25,000 fans there will be 7,500 vaccinated health-care workers. The health-care workers received free tickets from the NFL.

If you’re not a fan of football the Super Bowl offers much more with millions of dollars spent on commercials and the halftime show. Food is also a big part of the game day experience for many households watching. This year Canadian singer, songwriter The Weeknd will be headlining the halftime show, and his co-manager told Billboard that the artist paid 7 million dollars for the halftime show to encapsulate his vision.
