Elon Musk, the South African billionaire, has recently surpassed Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon, as the richest man in the world. According to Forbes, Musk is estimated to have a net worth of 186.1 billion dollars! That’s the equivalent of 22,000 yachts or 131,000 Ferrari laFerrari sports cars. He added on 140 billion dollars to his net worth in 2020 alone! Musk, 49, was born in South Africa, where he grew up. He later moved to Canada where he attended college. After graduating with multiple degrees, he founded multiple small companies, one of which was PayPal. PayPal was bought by eBay for over a billion dollars, which Musk would then use to start up his most successful companies, SpaceX and Tesla.

SpaceX was founded in 2002 and has worked with the government on many projects. The company has rockets that are able to land and then take off again, which is crucial for one of his main goals, which is the colonization of Mars. According to CNBC, Musk is confident that his company will successfully land humans on Mars by 2026. This is having a lot of faith, but if anyone can get it done, its him.

Tesla is what has been the biggest money-maker for Elon, as electric cars become more and more popular. Tesla is currently worth 855.16 billion dollars according to Google Finance. It can expect to go up even more after the release of the Cybertruck, which will release late this year. Musk owns 20% of the company, which accounts for a large amount of his total worth.

Elon Musk is definitely one of the most interesting humans in the world, and we will hear a lot more from him in coming times.
