Many people and companies have suffered through this pandemic, however, companies with drive thrus were lucky enough to stay open and in return are planning on improving their systems. On Monday, the McDonald’s chain released a statement saying they have made plans to create a more efficient experience for their customers. Since the shut down there has been a significant increase in competition for these fast food chain restaurants. After running multiple tests, McDonald’s has found many other fast food chains to have quicker service, which sparked their new plans for this upcoming year. One topic that was mentioned was creating an order online system and having an express line just for those who have already paid online to pick up. This would also give customers the opportunity to do contactless payment method if prefered.

The company will also use their digital boards to make suggestions to customers based on weather, how busy the kitchen is, and other factors. This is in hopes to get the customer to spend more. They also just released new products like the McPlant plant-based burger and crispy chicken sandwich to provide options for everyone. Another advancement to come is the company will use automation rather than employees to take the drive thru orders. However, in the meantime we can look forwards to quick and safer transactions for McDonalds.
