Today is September 11th and today is the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Today, and every other year on this day since 2001, the nation takes to remember all of the lives lost and the tragic event that occured: the plane crashes in the Twin Towers. Many families whose loved ones passed away in the tragic event visit the memorial every year on this day, however this year will be different in terms of visiting the memorial. Due to the coronavirus, the ceremony that honors the fallen and their families will be different this year. This year the speaker will say the victims names on a loudspeaker at two different locations instead of on a podium before a large crowd as done in the past. There will be one ceremony at the memorial plaza and another ceremony near the One World Trade Center. This is so that there are no big crowds to keep the spread of coronavirus maintained. Although the thought of this idea is a good one, some families feel that this is an excuse to limit families’ roles to commemorate their loved ones who didn’t make it through. Today we take the day to honor and remember those all who have been affected by the attack on 9/11.
