Shuri as the New Black Panther

As most of us know, Chadwick Boseman passed away this month from Colon Cancer. He was battling this cancer for about 4 years, and passed away at the young age of 43. Chadwick played the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) character Black Panther.  Chadwick had been contracted to star as the main character “Black Panther”  for 5 movies, and with his death leaving 1 movie left to film, who would step up to this iconic role in “Black Panther 2” ?

In Marvel Comics, Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, who is played by Letitia Wright, was already declared Black Panther, when T’Challa (her brother and the holder of the title, Black Panther) was recovering from battle wounds, Shuri stepped up and proved that she is strong and can lead her country, Wakanda. “Disney/Marvel have already declared Shuri as the new Black Panther through a series of comic books. However, the MCU movie Universe had reported that Chadwick Boseman will reprise his role as the Black Panther for at least two more films; Black Panther 2 and Avengers 5.” said the author Dianne Anders. Obviously, with Chadwick’s death, there is hope that the Marvel Comic storyline with Shuri undertaking the role of Black Panther will happen.

With the invention of virtual characters, as seen in other movies, like in Star Wars and Fast and Furious,  we can look forward to seeing Chadwick hand off his role to his sister. When I see Chadwick Boseman virtually in the theater, you better believe there will be some crying.
