Spring Sports Start-Up

With the sun beginning to stay out a little longer and temperatures getting increasingly warmer, we can see Spring coming! This means it’s a new sports season at OHS with softball, baseball, girls soccer, and track & field all starting up. All teams are looking to get games going and hopefully the unpredictable weather doesn’t get in the way.

Marly Lillibridge, a junior who plays softball, says that “The season started out rough because some players didn’t return so it was nerve-wracking not knowing who would play where. But after the first practice, it got better and now we’re excited.” The softball team has their first game March 17th against Galesburg in Orion.

Will Lawson, a junior baseball player, said the thing he’s most excited for this season is “playing with my friends and annoying Jarrett at practice.” The baseball team kicks off their season against Ridgewood March 17th in Alwood.

Hailey James, a junior who is on the girls soccer team said she’s most excited to play against Rock Island because ” we lost to them last year in Regionals even though we had beat them twice before.” The girls begin their season by playing on March 19th against Alleman in Orion.

Nathanael Monzon, a junior who runs track, says that he enjoys track running away from his problems and “playing Clash Royale with Cade while running.” The track teams next meet is March 17th at Monmouth College.

Go out and show some school spirit by cheering for the spring sports teams!
