10 & 32 Basketball Tournament

This past week, November 25th-30th, the varsity Charger basketball team had their first games of the season. They played four games throughout the week in their hometown 10 and 32 tournament. In this tournament, there were 8 teams participating including Orion. Those teams were Abingdon-Avon, Mercer County, Alleman, Ridgewood, Sherrard, Erie-Prophetstown, Monmouth-Roseville, and Orion. Out of all these teams, the Chargers were able to start their season off undefeated and were tournament champs!

The Chargers had their first game on Tuesday, November 26th at 7pm. They played Abingdon-Avon for their first game of the season. The Orion Chargers came out hot and started scoring right from the start. Unfortunately, the Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes couldn’t keep up with the Chargers. The final score of this game ended up being 57-45, with the Chargers taking their first win of the season.

On Wednesday, November 27th at 7pm, the Orion Chargers had their second game of the season. They played against the Mercer County Eagles. Just like the first game, the Chargers were unstoppable when it came to scoring. Orion was able to make several shots and the Eagles could not stop them. The Chargers ended with game with their second win being 75-22.

On Friday, November 29th at 7:30pm, the Orion varsity team played their third game of the tournament. At this point, the Chargers are on a winning streak and have a record of 2-0. They had to play a somewhat decent Alleman team. However, the Chargers were able to move past the Alleman Pioneers defense and score multiple times. The final score was 60-34 with another Charger win.

On Saturday, November 30th at 7:30pm, the Orion Chargers were in the tournament championship game. This game was the most intense because it was against the wild Sherrard Tigers. Many people came to this game and the stands were packed. The Chargers were able to show their talent to everyone there. They were able to beat Sherrard with no problem, 63-43.

Overall, the Chargers went undefeated in this tournament and started their season off great! Their next game is on Tuesday, December 3rd in Alwood against Ridgewood.
