Football: Game 9 Review

The Orion Chargers played their final regular season game this past Friday, October 25th. The Chargers took on the  undefeated Morrison Mustangs.  The Mustangs finished their regular season 9-0. The result wasn’t what the Chargers were hoping for however, they still played a well developed game. The final score ended up being 35-6. This made the Orion Chargers now 5-4 in the regular season and 3-3 in the TRAC conference. However, the Chargers have qualified for post season play!

Going into this game, the Charger team knew the Mustangs were going to be tough and they would have to play a close to perfect game. In fact, the entire first half was well played by the Orion Chargers. The Chargers were the first team of the game to score in the first quarter making it 6-0 near the beginning of the game. There were high hopes for all the Charger fans as the Morrison Mustangs were not playing well in the first half. In fact, the Mustangs had four fumbles in the first half all recovered by the Chargers. At halftime, the score was 7-6 with the Mustangs in the lead. Unfortunately when coming back from halftime, the Chargers lost their momentum and the Mustangs were on fire. They scored several times in the second half causing them to gain a decent size lead. The Chargers fought to the end hoping to score more, but unfortunately did not. As this was a tough loss, the Chargers are forgetting about it and moving on to the more important playoff game.

This week, the Orion Chargers take on round 1 of playoffs against a several year rival. They hit the road to face, once again, the Sterling-Newman Comets. The game is on Saturday, November 2nd, at 1 in Sterling. See you there!
